The Technical Assistance Collaborative (TAC) recently established a new site, the TAC Resource focus on Supportive Housing. It provides “information and technical support targeted to states along with other supporting housing stakeholders” because they work to implement forthcoming reforms toward part 811 Supportive Housing for People with Disabilities system. The site Center highlights guidelines in built-in supportive housing and provides guidance to stakeholders who would like to follow these types of designs in their own communities.

The Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act of 2009 had been signed into law in January 2011. The legislation makes several changes toward area 811 program, like the codification of a residential area integration method for people with disabilities beneath the present Section 811 (see Memo, ).

The legislation encourages neighborhood integration through authorization of a state-level relationship linking affordable local rental housing with voluntary supporting solutions, therefore increasing the ability of people with disabilities to live alongside those without handicaps in popular multifamily advancements.

HUD has not however circulated the new Section 811 regulations, that may provide assistance with exactly how modifications included in the Melville Act should always be implemented. Their particular release is anticipated in late 2011.
